C.A.R.E. / Child Abuse Resource and Education is an interdenominational Christian, board directed, 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization, founded in 1998. As the organization grew, the need for its own facility became apparent. Through the support of many donors and volunteers, The John 3:16 Center was built in 2004 and C.A.R.E. was able to expand its programs. These programs include: GED classes and Homework Club during the school year, Camp J316 (a free summer day camp), Parenting Classes, Food Pantry, Coordination with local agencies for clothing and other such needs, School Supply/Uniform Drive, Christmas Outreach, Recreational Activities, Budget Friendly Healthy Cooking Classes, and Classes on Recognizing and Responding to Child Abuse and Neglect. C.A.R.E. serves families in Halifax, Warren, and Northampton counties in North Carolina and welcomes the involvement of volunteers in its programs. All services are offered in a safe, structured, and faith-based environment. While we welcome people from all backgrounds to register and participate, we share our faith openly and include Bible-based devotions in our programs. The board and staff of C.A.R.E. continue to examine and evaluate the needs of children and families in their community to ensure that the organization continues to be an effective resource for family growth and stability.
