What is Helpful Hands and Hearts?
Helpful Hands and Hearts (HHH) is an ecumenical non-denominational organization comprised of volunteers who serve as a resource for older adults and their families in the Lake Gaston Area. The non-profit organization focuses on assisting older adults and their families in meeting identified needs and coordinating volunteer services. Additionally, HHH will provide information on and referrals to existing government services.
Helpful Hands and Hearts (HHH) volunteers seek to treat older adults with dignity and respect, helping individuals maintain independence and enjoy a better quality of life.
How Does HHH work?
Through a local help line, individuals, families, neighbors or friends can contact the organization.
Those needing assistance must be at least 60 years of age.
Volunteers will respond and assess if needs can be met.
If individual can be helped, a team will be assigned beginning with an initial visit to set up a program of assistance.
Volunteers Provide The Following Services...
Transportation to doctors, dentists, labs, etc.
General transportation to grocery, shopping, post office, hair appointment, etc.
Minor home repairs such as ramps, plumbing, etc.
Home visitation.
Identify additional programs either government or private that meet needs HHH cannot provide.
