The Solid Waste Department manages the daily operation of the Brunswick County Landfill and eleven Solid Waste Convenience Centers. rnrnIn addition, the Solid Waste Department is responsible for managing the recycling program. Brunswick County’s recycling program was established in 1999 and was designed to extend the life of the landfill by diverting substantial amounts of refuse from our landfill; to encourage more responsible use of natural resources; and to protect our resources for the current and future generations. The Brunswick County recycling program currently recycles nearly 4,000 tons annually in the Brunswick County community. Recyclable items include: corrugated cardboard, aluminum cans and foil/pans, scrap metal, white goods, used oil, pallets, propane tanks, batteries, plastic #1 and #2, paper, and textile. rnrnrn
