Roanoke Valley Veterans Museum Information

Veterans Museum

Preserving Veteran Heritage in the Roanoke Valley since 2008 rn Often, people visit the Roanoke Valley Veterans Museum looking for old photographs of family members. The museum has displayed memorabilia including 1,600 photos of veterans in addition to being a school field trip favorite, a place for junior ROTC members to pick up service hours, and serving in the Library of Congress’s oral history program designed to document the experience of veterans. rn rn rn After Littleton’s Fourth of July Parade, the town welcomed the Roanoke Valley Veteran’s Museum with a grand opening on Saturday. The day was filled with sunshine as several people turned out on South Main Street to watch the parade commemorating the historic day. Shortly afterward, the town parking lot at the center of the downtown area was reserved for guests to hear comments from retired U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. David Johnson, chairman of the museum’s board of directors, who talked about the organization’s journey from Roanoke Rapids to Littleton. rn
