a non-profit group of Christian adults around the Lake Gaston area who enjoy getting together for travels and companionship. “The Lake Gaston Adventurers is a non-profit group of Christian adults around the lake area who enjoy getting together for traveling, attending luncheons with guest speakers, or a night out with entertainment. We go to shows, museums, places of interest and the Durham ball game in the summer. Twice a year we collect toys or food for two local charities. Anyone can attend any event and there are no dues. Most trips we take are day trips to local or nearby places of interest. However, the group does go on an overnight (up to 7 nights) trip on a comfortable motor coach once a year in the fall. This trip is full of sightseeing and fun activities. Examples of trips and tours we have taken: Washington, DC, Pidgeon Forge, Tennessee, Richmond, Virginia, New York City, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Elkins, West Virginia, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. And for this year, we are going to Branson, Missouri for 7 days.rn rnIn addition to the above events, we also host a Christmas craft show in the Family Life Center of Lake Gaston Baptist Church the first Saturday of November. The show usually has 47 to 50 crafters who want to sell their handmade crafts and a delicious barbecue lunch is provided at a reasonable price. This event is attended by approximately a thousand people and well received by the community.rn rnWe meet once a month and the date, time and place are published in the local paper or sent to you by email, if you provide us with your email address. However, we do not meet in the summer months except for the Durham Bulls game. All people around Lake Gaston and nearby areas in the Roanoke Valley are welcome to join us for any event.” |
