More to Love about the Lake Gaston Region

Valentine’s Day is truly upon us. I’m not much on the “mushy stuff,” as I call it, but in our hectic lives, I do believe in taking moments to remind those we love that we love them. Days like Valentine’s Day can give us pause to reflect on the love that we have in our lives and what we love about who we are and where we live. Since I offered seven things to love about the Lake Gaston region in last week’s Chamber Talk, I want to offer seven more this week for a total of 14 in honor…

Lots to Love about the Lake Gaston Region

Although it seems that I just finished packing up the holiday decorations and reflecting on the past year in preparation for the new, here we are with Valentine’s Day right around the corner. Now, I’m not one of those who has ever been all that into Valentine’s Day, as I believe you should show your loved ones that you care on a daily basis. However, I do think that days like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and the like provide moments of pause where the entire world seems to be fixated on love and appreciation (at least for a…

Chamber Makes New Year's Resolutions to Serve the Lake Gaston Region

Here we are, Lake Gaston region, welcoming another new year! As everyone knows, it is traditional as we mark the passage of the old year into the new that we resolve to make the new year better than the one before. I think it is a common hope for humanity to be able to start anew with a plan to make positive changes. I tend to make some of the same resolutions each year – lose weight, exercise more, drink less coffee, spend more time with family and friends, get outside more often. People may view it as failure that…

Shop Lake Gaston First for the Holidays Represents $87,100 in Receipts

Christmas is here! As I write this article, I’m amazed at how quickly the time has passed this year. Most recently, our Shop Lake Gaston First for the Holidays contest began first by chugging along, as people became familiar with the idea, then moved full-steam ahead until it drew to a close on December 19. I was joined by my partners and friends of the Lake Gaston Gazette-Observer, as well as Shop Lake Gaston First supporters Nina Angle of Anglewood Kitchens & Design and Ann Morgan of Food Lion, on December 19 at 4:30 p.m. at the Gazette office to…

Like a child, I am looking forward to 2014 with eager anticipation of what is to come. Last Thursday we held our Holiday Business After Hours at Rosemont of Virginia Vineyard & Winery.
